When it comes to hemorrhoid cream, there are quite a few treatments out there that all claim to reduce and shrink your hemorrhoids, but do they really work?  Which one is the best to go with?  If you’re looking for a good cream make sure you read this first:

1.    The Basic Cream Ala Preparation H

Ok, we’re going to go into some more advanced cream stuff soon, but to start, most people know of the hemorrhoid cream Preparation H, the cream that “shrinks swollen hemorrhoids”.  It’s been popular for decades for a reason, it helps.  While it may not completely cure you, it will bring some relief.  These you’ll find at your basic drug store in a tube for under $7.

2.     Cream + Medicated Pads

Now another way to be using these creams is in conjunction with a sanitary napkin.  Pick up some of these or some medicated pads like “Tucks” and after applying a hemorrhoid cream, place this overtop of that and tape it to your butt.  You can also try soaking the napkin in Epsom salts to make it more effective.

3.     Petroleum Jelly

If you don’t have any Prep H on hand, petroleum jelly can be used as a quick substitute.  You can also use cortisone creams as well.

4.     Ointments and Gels

Now in addition to creams you do have another bunch of solutions that fall under the ointment or gel category, some of which are used both externally and internally.  For internal use, you can either use your finger or a special nozzle known as the “pile pipe”.  Most of these products contain a anesthetic which allows for some pain relief, they also have an ingredient which works to shrink the hemorrhoids.

If you are looking for a good hemorrhoid cream though, one of the most potent solutions is actually in the form of an ointment/pill, it’s a 2 pronged solution that both reduces itchiness, swelling and pain as well as softens your stool.  It’s currently the most effective ointment available, to find out more about how it works, click on this link.
